About Me
I’m Dominique, an Air Force veteran and the founder of One Bored Traveler. Making trip itineraries is something I have done since I was a kid, planning routes for the trips we took with our mom and dreaming about everywhere else I would go one day.
That dream stalled for years. As a young adult I wanted to travel internationally, but the people I planned to go with always fell through, so I never even got a passport. Big mistake.
Everything changed when I started dating my now wife. Our first trip together was to San Juan, my first time flying out of the continental United States, and I knew she was the one. I had her ring ready. She was already an experienced traveler, for both leisure and work, so I finally got my passport. Since then we have traveled to numerous places, grown our family, and now the kids tag along too.
I dedicate this brand and this website to her. She made my childhood dream of traveling the world come true.
I built One Bored Traveler for people who are eager to explore but are not confident doing it alone. Take that first trip and your eyes will open. It will be one of the best things you ever do for yourself, and I am here to guide you along the way.
That is the other thing all those years of planning taught me: vacations do not have to eat most of your paycheck. Search on your own and it is easy to overpay for flights and hotels without ever knowing it. I would rather see your money spent in the destination, getting immersed in a new culture, than handed to a booking site.
